Okay…I know what you are thinking. Black beans have NO PLACE in the world of decadent and sinful desserts. But I promise you, these black bean brownies taste so much like regular brownies that my friends and family could barely tell the difference. If anything, they are MORE chocolaty and MORE fudgy than regular boxed brownie mix! Ohh, and the best part? They are healthy brownies, so you can eat the ENTIRE batch with NO GUILT!
What Does This Black Bean Dessert Recipe Taste like?
To say that they taste similar to brownie batch mix is and understatement. I was quite literally eating the brownie batter off of my mixing spoon (before I added the eggs) and could not tell the difference, other than a slightly thicker texture.
They are very chocolaty, fudgy, and moist, and hold their shape well. I actually really enjoy them chilled in the fridge! For some reason, I feel like this makes them EXTRA indulgent and fudgy!
These flourless brownies cook into a slightly cakey texture. Just make sure you don’t over cook them, because who likes burnt brownies?!
Honestly, most people will not be able to tell the difference.

Are Black Bean Brownies Healthy?
Black bean brownies offer a healthier alternative to traditional brownies due to their nutrient-rich whole ingredients. By incorporating black beans, which are higher in fiber, protein, and antioxidants, these brownies provide a satisfying treat while promoting digestive health and potentially reducing the risk of chronic diseases.
Substituting black beans for flour in the recipe lowers the glycemic index of the brownies, helping to provide sustained energy. With less refined sugar and fat compared to conventional brownies, black bean brownies offer a guilt-free way to indulge in a chocolaty dessert without compromising on taste or nutrition.
I will say though, they are NOT low sugar. Honey contains sugar, but it is from a whole ingredient that is minimally processed and comes straight from Mother Nature. Compared to tablespoons of regular granulated sugar, I will take honey sugar all day!
